What Wedding Is For You?

What wedding is for you?

As a wedding fanatic I find every aspect of weddings really interesting. I was thinking recently about the different types of weddings there are out there. If we take away the religious aspect there is still a wide range of options for what sort of wedding you may want. I thought I’d take a look at a few of them.

First up is a civil wedding. This is one which is presided over by a local civil authority. Now this isn’t a friend of yours who lives in the area and plays Foxy Bingo with you, it has to be someone like an elected judge or mayor. There may be mentions to God during the service but it’s not aimed at one denomination in particular.

Up next is one of the most exciting and romantic weddings in my eyes, elopement. This is when people get married without much warning and they often don’t invite anyone to attend. Traditionally when you think of elopement you think of younger people getting married without their parents permission.

A classic wedding is the white wedding. This is the traditional and often formal Western wedding that many couples have. It is called a white wedding as the dress will be white.

Interesting fact! White weddings became popular after Queen Victoria wore a pure white gown when she married Prince Albert. At the time when Queen Vic got married white was a colour that symbolised sexual purity but it was also seen as rather extravagant. It might not mean the same thing today but it is still the most popular colour for wedding dresses

Finally a wedding style that is become increasingly popular is the Destination wedding. Some couples choose to get married in a holiday setting. They invite their guests to come and they all day for a number of days and really do make the most of it.Sounds nice doesn’t it, getting married with sand between your toes?
